ARK-H Handling
Background - 'A nice problem'
A distribution/fulfilment company, ARK-H Handling, approached us with a problem that their own
success had created. Their sales team had been successful in securing two
large contracts but to fulfil these our client had to find 20,000 sq.ft. of
extra warehouse space within a couple of months.
Requirement
The industrial park where our client was situated had space available for a
temporary structure, and because our client needed to have a dry, warm
environment within the building it was decided that a fully insulated
temporary building which could be effectively and efficiently heated was the
ideal solution.
Proposal
Structure - This insulated structure was specified with a double-skinned roof
membrane, and steel polystyrene sandwich cladding.
Access - Four roller shutter doors. Allowing
high sided vehicles inside the structure, were also quoted for. Two pedestrian
emergency panic bar operable doors were also included, thereby meeting
statutory Health and Safety Fire Regulations.
Heating - Diesel-fired indirect heaters, with
thermostatic controls were also included, to ensure a comfortable working
environment inside the structure, both warm and dry. These were essential
conditions for the cardboard/paper products stored inside, and for the
fulfilment & packing staff working during mid-winter.
Result
The Structure was erected, racking was installed etc within the client's
tight time-frame, and on schedule to accept the first shipment from their new
customer.
