On-Site Storage Building for Cathelco

Background
The world's largest designer and manufacturer of marine pipework anti-fouling systems, Chesterfield-based Cathelco provides systems for protection against marine growth and corrosion on all types of vessels including container carriers, ferries, cruise ships, tankers, luxury yachts and offshore structures.

Requirement
Cathelco was experiencing an increase in orders and required additional storage space for its finished goods, but with plans already in place to move to larger premises, a cost-effective, intermediate solution was sought.

Having already considered hiring off-site space, but deciding against it due to difficulties in the ability to control stock and the additional expense in overheads such as transport costs, Cathelco specified a 100 sq m aluminium framed temporary unit from Aganto.

Solution
Aganto was able to supply a building specially manufactured to fit a sloping site at the facility, enabling Cathelco to get the exact amount of storage space it required whilst also taking full advantage of redundant space on site.

Aganto's professional site development team installed the unit into a restricted area within one week, allowing the operation to continue with minimum disruption. As Cathelco experienced further growth the original unit was extended to 180 sq m.

Benefit
Cathelco was able to reduce costs and retain control of stock with the help of a bespoke on-site temporary storage solution.

Production and purchasing manager at Cathelco, Barry Pendleton, comments: “Keeping our products on site enabled us to reduce lead times and increase traceability of our stock, ensuring we are able to maintain service levels to our customers during an extremely busy period.

“Hiring an Aganto temporary building provided us with the best possible solution - we got the extra storage space we needed almost immediately at a low cost and in a convenient location, allowing for an undisturbed operation.”
