AGANTO GETS GARDEN CENTRE BACK ON TRACK AFTER FIRE

AGANTO GETS GARDEN CENTRE BACK ON TRACK AFTER FIRE
When its 5000 sq m warehouse facility along with the majority of its stock was completely destroyed in a fire, Ruxley Manor Garden Centre called on the expertise of temporary building specialist Aganto to help it resume trading as quickly as possible.

A family run business established in 1876, the Kent-based garden centre stocks a wide range of garden requisites including plants, furniture, garden tools and equipment, wild bird care and pets.

Following the fire, company director, James Evans considered the interim options available to restore a warehouse facility whilst a new build was planned.

Off site rental was quickly ruled out on the basis of the increased logistics it would entail and the reduced level of security it would provide. Instead the garden centre, which attracts over 250,000 visitors a year, opted to hire an 800 sq m temporary building from Aganto.

With an extensive stock of buildings that require no foundations available for immediate rental, Aganto was able to install a fully operational building within just 12 days of the initial enquiry.

Its experienced site management team also assisted in clearing a compound in order to locate the temporary warehouse, by removing fencing and floodlights and relocating oil tanks.

James Evans comments: “As the fire had not affected the retail store we were determined to continue with business as usual. With the aid of a temporary building we were able to maximise our stock levels in a short period of time and mitigate the impact on our customers and our business.

“The speed and professionalism with which Aganto responded to our enquiry was very impressive and its experience in such circumstances proved invaluable in allowing us to resume trading with the minimum delay and disruption.”

Aganto's temporary buildings are a proven solution in the event of fire, flood or storm damage. In the event of an emergency a rapid, reliable response is available 24/7 and a standard building can usually be supplied within days. Once the initial crisis has been dealt with, Aganto can work with clients to develop a longer-term contingency plan as required.

The garden centre also recently opted for a further 200 sq m of temporary warehouse space from Aganto, to expand its premises in line with the busy Christmas period.

To accommodate the additional facility, a side wall was removed from the existing structure to allow the new building to be connected, creating one large warehouse with a 1000 sq m storage capacity.
