Invest in the Future with a Temporary Building from Aganto

30th June 2016

Negotiating the future Following last week’s EU Referendum, it seems clear that we are entering an uncertain economic climate and as businesses..

What about your business plans?

It is a natural response to a significant change in circumstances to do nothing and put new projects and investments on hold. We can be like rabbits in the headlights, transfixed and waiting for events to take their course and see what happens. The rabbit would find out to its cost what happens if you do nothing, so as businesses we have to maintain a semblance of control and clarity of thought about the future. It may now be a cliché, but we should Keep Calm and Carry On!The economy continues to function, business is still being transacted, goods and services are being bought and sold; things aren’t standing still. It is easy when things are uncertain to sit on your hands, but opportunities can be missed and a little lateral thinking can help with any investment decisions that may be taken.

Grow your business smarter

Simon Walker the Director General of the Institute of Directors recently said, “Businesses will be busy working out how they are going to adapt and succeed after the referendum result”. In a poll conducted by the IoD, 36% of members said they would be cutting investment, with 9% saying the opposite and just under half of the members saying they would not change their plans. Not all companies therefore are slowing their investment plans, bit it is wise to make sure your capital is being employed effectively. For instance, if you need more operational space to grow the business, what is the best option? You could look around at offsite space, but this has implications for extra administration and logistics costs, outside of the cost of the building itself. There is always the option of building, for example, an extra warehouse or storage facility onsite, but this would involve a long term investment which you may not want to enter into given the lack of clarity in the economic outlook.

One option is a temporary building which only requires hard standing as a base and can be erected in a matter of days. Robustly constructed using a non-corrosive aluminium frame with steel or polymer composite walls, these buildings have a wide range of uses including as warehouse or storage buildings, workshops, waste processing plants, retail outlets or even as a temporary fire station. Some types of these buildings can be used for temperature controlled environments if needed, and all have the options of different types of door entry, lighting, windows etc.

The cost saving for this type of building over a traditional build or moving to an offsite facility is significant, keeping capital outlay within manageable proportions. The most advantageous aspect of this type of building, particularly in these uncertain times, is that they can be hired as well as purchased outright. This means that the monthly outgoings are known without committing to long term investment, which makes it a great for cash flow. When the building is no longer required, it can be dismantled leaving the site virtually as it was before the building was erected.

As a country and an economy we are going through an uncertain period and how as businesses we navigate our course will determine how we emerge from the other side. Looking for the smart option to improve our enterprises can only help our future and the future of the broader economy.
