Really? That easy?

30th May 2013

Really yes, that easy! Temporary buildings are the epitome of ease and speed when it comes to construction. Much of this comes from the fact that no foundations or ground works are needed, which is in turn derived from the lightweight but extremely strong and durable aluminium frame.

This post finds out how all these elements come together to create probably the easiest building solution around and one that doesn’t short-change on quality either.

Temporary buildings are easy, fast, flexible and hassle free. And, none of these benefits mean you will be short changed on quality. They do meet the required British Standards for structural safety meaning they can be used short term of instead of a permanent building.

So, what makes them so easy and fast to build? Some of these major benefits are derived from the frame which is engineered from an industrial grade aluminium which combines lightweight flexibility with strength and longevity. The strength and longevity, incidentally, comes from its ability to flex against loads or impact and its resilience to corrosion. It’s the lightweight qualities though we are interested in as it’s this that creates the easy and fast build process.

This quality makes it easy to handle and transport these temporary warehouse buildings meaning the speed and simplicity kicks in before the buildings have reached your site. In fact, way back in the manufacturing stage through to picking, loading and forward transport to you.

Once with you they are then built incredibly quickly (typically 4 days) directly onto existing hard standing without needing any ground preparation. This is done by fixing them down to the ground with the use of base plates and ground anchors and then carrying out a pull-test to ensure they can withstand the maximum uplift load. The frame is then fixed to the base plates, craned into place and cladding installed.

This type of design and construction method eliminates several cost heavy aspects such as: architectural design fees, difficult handling, storage and transport, expensive and time consuming ground preparation, minimal labour in terms of crew and time and minimal equipment and plant for the construction itself.

It is also this build process that creates the flexibility and choice with temporary industrial buildings, including hire options, how long you use them and the ability to have the ground back to its original state once the building is removed.
