Temporary buildings help with power station upgrade

12th December 2013

Working on large power plants always has high regulations in terms of health and safety. To secure a temporary building contract on such a plant isn’t always easy but to then go on and perform without one single criticism is testament to Aganto’s strong and highly skilled temporary buildings team.

Aganto recently worked on a large temporary building project for E.ON at their Connah’s Quay plant in North Wales when they needed extra storage for an upgrade project.

The timescales were tight and the additional space was needed quickly to house the equipment that was going to be used for the project. This ruled out a permanent building and led them on to temporary buildings and Aganto.

Temporary building experience secures contract

With many health and safety regulations on sites like this there was quite rightly a long tender process. Aganto was able to demonstrate our capabilities in this aspect though and secured the contract. Being able to show how we could meet the demanding and tight schedule also helped us.

Our site management teams have always excelled on site in terms of professionalism and their ability to meet standard health and safety requirements and those that are site specific. It was vital that we retained this level of service and commitment on the Connah’s Quay site.

Over a 12 day programme our senior site management team created 1,400 sq m of additional secure storage space for E.ON. There were two temporary warehouse buildings linked together with the required number of vehicle and pedestrian doors.

The new area now enables E.ON to unpack, inspect and store the new materials in a safe stand alone environment without having to use the other operational areas on the site. The flow of materials to and from the place of work is now easy, quick and efficient.

Written thanks for a first rate performance

Both the Project Manager and Turbine Engineer put in writing their thanks to Aganto for being so professional on site. In fact, the Turbine Engineer, Bob Atkinson said it was a first for Connah’s Quay not to have had one single criticism of a contractor’s performance on site.

To know and trust that a temporary building supplier is going to do an exemplary job on the build phase of your project is difficult; especially if that supplier is new to you. Having written and verbal testimonials like this however should hopefully put Aganto’s customers at ease once they have signed on the dotted line.
