Temporary structure for garden centre

Waterways garden centre in Wrexham has been trading since 1979 and specialise in everything garden related and a few unusual extras, including aquatics and reptiles. When their main retail building was damaged by snow, they urgently needed a temporary structure to remain open and continue trading.

Why they needed a temporary structure

The bad weather in Spring this year caused major problems for Waterways garden centre. Heavy snow settled caused major roof damage, meaning they had to close their main retail building to the public and find somewhere else to trade from – and quickly.

An internet search on temporary structures highlighted two possible companies who could help, one of which was Aganto. Ian Buxton, the Managing Director at Waterways had both companies out to survey the site, but due to the expertise and approach of Aganto, he very quickly ruled the second choice out.

Ian also knew that by choosing Aganto he could have a temporary structure straight away as opposed to having to wait; something he could not afford to do.

Temporary structure solution

After Ian’s initial enquiry on Sunday 24th March, the Aganto site management team were on site on Wednesday the 3rd April and had completed the installation by Saturday 6th April; just two weeks from the initial enquiry.

The building was an insulated temporary structure, 15m wide by 20m and was fitted with lighting, windows, pedestrian and vehicle access doors. Waterways then went on to fit it out with everything needed for a retail unit including shelving and an area for the till.

Benefits provided by the Aganto temporary structure

Now that the business has been able to commence trading again very quickly, they can consider their longer term plans which might include extending the temporary structure hire and looking at heating options for the winter months.

Ian said this about the project.

“Aganto were great to work with. They were very professional and responsive from start to finish, which is exactly what we needed in the circumstances. In fact, the whole response was tailored to our circumstances and needs perfectly, including timeframes and a bespoke payment plan for the temporary structure which enabled us to get up and running before any insurance claims were settled.”
