A guide to temporary building maintenance
At Aganto, we’re proud to offer reliable temporary building solutions that promise to remain functional for as long as you need them. Whether you need your building for two years or twenty, it’s important to consider the maintenance required to ensure your building stays in top condition.
When you order from Aganto, our team of experts remain in contact with you throughout your whole contract to make sure that your temporary building is well looked after and all necessary maintenance is carried out through annual inspection. But what exactly does an annual inspection look like?
Let’s take a closer look…
Why do temporary buildings require maintenance?
Much like permanent buildings, temporary buildings require maintenance to ensure that they remain compliant with industry standards and safe for use. Although Aganto structures are designed to be extremely durable, the demanding industrial and commercial environments they are subjected to can cause wear and tear over time.
Some of the most common factors include:
- Weather Exposure – wind, rain, sunlight, snow and temperature changes can all affect coverings, cladding, seals, gutters and fixings over time.
- Structural integrity – bolts can loosen, components can move slightly, and anchors should be checked to ensure the building can perform as intended.
- Waterproofing – Damaged roof membranes, seals and gutters can allow water into the building, leading to damaged stock, structural corrosion or mould.
- Wear and tear – frequent operation of roller shutter doors, pedestrian doors, lighting and ventilation systems results in components needing to be adjusted or replaced.
- Safety and Compliance – regular maintenance helps ensure emergency exits, fire safety features and access routes remain safe, functional and compliant with UK health and safety legislation.
What will be checked during inspection?
Our site engineers follow a pre-determined checklist during annual inspections, ensuring all aspects of your building are assessed. We’ll be looking out for the following:
- Ground anchors – general condition of ground anchors, any signs of movement or distortion, anchor threads and pins, and pull test.
- Structure – check bolts, pins and clips remain secured in place, ensure gable skins are correctly tensioned, and the loading of the structure has not changed.
- Roof & wall wires – our engineers will check the condition of the roof and ensure wall wires remain under adequate tension.
- Wall Panels, doors & access – ensure fixings are holding firm, check doors are in working order including lock and handle mechanisms, check doors open and close properly (including fire exits).
Our engineers may also look at additional areas such as electrical equipment for lighting and heating, any customer-specific modifications, and assess any signs of damage.
What happens after my building inspection?
Should any defects or necessary repairs arise, our team are on hand to help no matter how long your building contract. We’ll guide you through the process to help you get the right people on site as quickly as possible and ensure minimal impact to your operations.
What happens if the intended use for my building changes between inspections?
